This year, we're revisiting some of our favorite stories about dads and dad-like figures for Father's Day. Heartwarming, funny, or thrilling, these posts highlight the personal and familial connections around watches and timekeeping and are worth a second read.
While Father's Day in June is an American construct (it's celebrated on December 5th in Thailand), the story of a watch imbued with memories that are passed down is universal. It transcends cultural and national boundaries. Revisiting this story is important because it takes something that happened long ago, during a tumultuous time in Southeast Asia, and highlights a side of the story that we wouldn't normally associate with the Communist insurgency in Laos that led to the end of a Kingdom.
