What We Know
Today, Tudor is extending its Black-Bay 54 line by delivering a new 37mm icy baby-blue dial variant. The Black Bay 54 "Lagoon Blue" holds much of the same specs as the original 2023 release but comes with a mirror-polished relief-style bezel, a five-link bracelet, and, of course, the new sand-textured "Lagoon Blue" dial.
The original BB 54 was revolutionary in modern terms for a gal like myself, offering a pared-down case profile and vintage-adjacent proportions. Intended as a modern take on Tudor's first dive watch (the reference 7922 of, you guessed it, the year 1954), this new variation with blue dial carries pretty much all the same specs as its more vintage looking predecessor and shows Tudors commitment to (what I personally consider) the mid-size sweet spot. The BB 54 line follows the downsizing pattern we've seen applied to the Black Bay line over the past few years, going from 41mm to 39mm in the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, and then 37mm for the Black Bay 54.
The movement has remained unchanged. The MT5400, which can also be found in the Pelagos 39 and other Black Bays like the 925 and the 18K, offers 70 hours of power reserve, a non-magnetic silicon hairspring, and COSC chronometer timekeeping of -2 to +4 seconds per day.

What We Think
When Tudor released the Black Bay 54 in 2023, it felt like something close to a Swiss miracle: a dive watch that measured just 37mm, yet still carried the presence, proportions, and details of a (male-marketed) vintage-inspired tool watch. I'll save the gender politics for a hands-on and part on a positive note. This new Lagoon Blue version matches the original 54 in its robustness, with minor cosmetic changes. And so, I'm all for it.
Perhaps slightly reminiscent of the ocean-hued Tiffany blue OP, this feels like a much sportier execution, which I genuinely appreciate. I'm not sure I've ever seriously considered a colorful dive watch for myself, so I'll wait until I see it in person this afternoon and hold on calling it a baby-blue miracle. Still, I can preemptively credit Tudor for continuing to outpace its peers in the effort to democratize smaller sporty watches.
