IntroducingBaltic Hermétique Summer

An extra hit of color to brighten up your summer.

What We Know

The Hermétique is quickly becoming one of the core models for Baltic when it comes to experimentation. We've had the original Tourer models, then the quirky dual-time release, but just in time for New York's summer heat wave, the brand has expanded the lineup again with four new colors for the summer season.

Baltic Hermétique Summer

The Baltic Hermétique features the same 37mm by 10.8mm stainless steel case, with a Borgel-style hermit design, recessed crown, and 150m water resistance, all set within a double-domed sapphire crystal. The lug-to-lug (46mm) and lug width (20mm) stay the same, as do the automatic Miyota 9093 movement (with a 42-hour power reserve).

The updated watches have new glossy-finish pink, orange, yellow, or turquoise dials with raised Super-Luminova BGW9 indices. They come on color-matched rubber straps in vulcanized rubber (FKM), steel beads of rice bracelets, or steel flat link bracelets, starting at €550 (~$650) on the strap and €615 (~$720) on the bracelet.

What We Think

I'm a fan of the Baltic Hermetique. I have the original Tourer in beige, which is—as my close friends know—about as close to a color as I get in my wardrobe most of the time. For the more adventuresome, bright, and cheerful among us, these look like a great summer option to add a little punch to the lineup. The only issue some might have with the watches is that the recessed crown (a key design element) can be a bit difficult to manipulate if your fingernails are not long enough, but you get used to it quickly.

Baltic Hermétique Summer

I expect that the Tiffany—ahem, I mean turquoise dial will be the biggest success for the brand, as that specific shade of blue seems to just print money for different brands. I am a big fan of bracelets, but in this case (and as I write this in the midst of a terrible, sweat-inducing heat wave), it seems that the FKM rubber strap, which matches the dial color, will be the more enjoyable combination to wear with the new watches.
